Allergy alert – Coconut, pecan & milk

According to Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, Rich Products Corporation is recalling “Allen Bavarian Crème Filling” due to undeclared coconut, pecan, and milk. The product was distributed to foodservice distributors and in-store bakeries nationwide. The pail size is 3.5 gallons and weight is 31.0 lbs. with production codes 11870137F21, F-22, F-23, F-24, and F-25. Consumers with questions may call (800) 356-7094.

AllergyEats adds 57,000 restaurants to database

Feds urge city to change policy on Epi use

From Omaha’s KETV-7:  The federal government said it believes the city of Omaha has relented on its policy that forbids city employees from giving life-saving medication to children in emergencies.  Parks and Recreation employees should now be allowed to administer epinephrine with auto injector devices, such as the EpiPen, according to the Department of the Interior. – Read more here.

Desensitization trial works for 11-year-old

Brett sports the black T-shirt emblazoned with white letters spelling out a dairy industry advertising catch phrase “got milk?” with pride, in part, because now he can. After participating in a milk desensitization trial program at Children’s Hospital in Boston, he can now have products made with milk after a lifetime of severe allergies, which as an infant would leave him purple with hives. – Read more here.
